The Wind Returns with “Second Wind : S#00”
K-Pop boy band The Wind has officially launched their highly anticipated “counterattack” on the scene, returning with their fourth mini-album, “Second Wind : S#00.” After a year and nine months since their last physical release, this comeback marks a significant new chapter for the group, notably as their first release under a new partnership with PPangStar Entertainment.
The five active members – Thanatorn, Park Hayuchan, Choi Han-bin, An Chan-won, and Jang Hyoun-joon – gathered at Ilchi Art Hall in Seoul’s Gangnam District for a press showcase on Wednesday, just hours before the album’s release. They shared insights into their comeback journey and the creation of their latest record. Member Kim Hee-soo is currently sitting out this promotional cycle, having suspended activities in May due to anxiety symptoms.
A Powerful “Second Wind” and a New Chapter
The album title, “Second Wind : S#00,” carries deep meaning for the group, with “#00” representing the coordinates where every story begins – the first page of The Wind’s fresh leap forward. Park Hayuchan elaborated on the album’s intention, stating, “We prepared a lot so that fans can feel both the refreshing charm we have shown so far and a confident, hipster side at the same time.” Jang Hyoun-joon further emphasized the album’s significance, describing it as a crucial turning point. “I think this comeback is a second chance given to us. We want to show how we have grown and reveal new sides of ourselves,” he shared, highlighting their determination to evolve.

Addressing Kim Hee-soo’s absence, Park Hayuchan assured fans that the members meticulously balanced performances and vocals in the new music to ensure his spot wouldn’t feel empty. An Chan-won added a touching update, revealing that the members recently spoke with Kim Hee-soo via video call. “He seemed to be doing well and staying healthy. I hope he can join us on stage in good health soon,” An Chan-won expressed, showcasing their solidarity.
Igniting Summer with “Party Like A Rock Star”
The album’s vibrant title track, “Party Like A Rock Star,” is poised to be a summer anthem. It masterfully blends a funky main guitar riff with an EDM-style lead synth, creating an upbeat band sound infused with explosive energy. Choi Han-bin confidently described the track: “It is a really refreshing band sound mixed with our energy, so it suits summer very well. Once you hear it, it sticks in your ears. It is highly addictive.” Park Hayuchan initially had reservations about the song’s fast tempo and high energy when he first heard it overseas, but through practice, it “grew on me, and now I can genuinely play and enjoy myself on stage,” he recounted.

A Spectrum of Sound, Curated by Park Kyung
Beyond the title track, the five-track album offers a diverse sonic palette. It includes “With the Wind,” an emotional pop and R&B number; “That’s Smoove!,” driven by heavy 808 bass and guitar; “Shiver,” a modern reinterpretation of early 2000s vibes; and “Back and Forth,” which beautifully captures the realities of young romance.
A notable highlight of “Second Wind : S#00” is the involvement of Block B’s Park Kyung, who took charge of the entire record’s production. Choi Han-bin expressed his disbelief and admiration, “I was a fan who kept his songs like ‘Inferiority Complex’ and ‘Ordinary Love’ on my playlist, so when I first heard he would be producing for us, I could not believe it.” Thanatorn shared his initial curiosity, wondering how their group’s unique color would be expressed through the renowned producer’s hands. He concluded with gratitude, acknowledging that “In the end, he preserved our charm while adding a new, free-spirited mood, and I am grateful for that.”
Setting Sail for New Heights
The Wind’s past endeavors were focused on making their name known, but with “Second Wind : S#00,” they are entering a crucial “second act” dedicated to proving their distinct direction and immense potential. Choi Han-bin articulated the group’s aspirations: “We have the goal of winning on a music show, but more broadly, I hope each of the members can claim a place in the public’s memory.” Jang Hyoun-joon extended heartfelt thanks to their dedicated fanbase for their patience during the hiatus. “I am so grateful to everyone who waited more than a year. I hope they look forward to the new sides we will show, and we will repay the love they send with performances to be proud of,” he promised, setting a confident tone for their future.
