Netflix’s upcoming series ‘Our Sticky Love’ has unveiled its main poster and trailer ahead of its August 7 premiere. Starring Jung Hae In and Ha Young, the romantic comedy is already drawing attention for its unique blend of sweet romance and mystery, creating a “sweet and salty” dynamic between its characters.
A “Memory Loss” Romance With a Hidden Secret?
‘Our Sticky Love’ follows Go Eun Sae (played by Ha Young), a prosecutor who loses her memory, and Jang Tae Ha (portrayed by Jung Hae In), a boxing coach who claims to be her boyfriend. The two unexpectedly begin living together, leading to a series of unpredictable events.
At first glance, the premise may appear to be a familiar memory-loss romance, but the drama hints at a deeper mystery hidden beneath the surface.
The recently released main poster suggests that the relationship between the two characters is far from ordinary from the beginning. Go Eun Sae’s intense expression as she grabs Jang Tae Ha by the collar, a prosecutor identification card placed in one corner of the image, and the expensive items surrounding the pair create an unusual atmosphere.
Adding to the intrigue is the tagline, “Sweetly tangled. Completely screwed!”, raising questions about what kind of incident brought the two together.
The main trailer begins in a hospital, where Go Eun Sae wakes up in an unfamiliar rural clinic after losing all of her memories. Jang Tae Ha appears before her and introduces himself as her boyfriend, but Eun Sae struggles to accept his claim and becomes overwhelmed by confusion.
The setting of “Gujin Yeot Village” also becomes a major point of curiosity. In the quiet village lined with traditional taffy workshops and filled with eccentric residents, Go Eun Sae slowly adapts to a completely unfamiliar life.
Jang Tae Ha gradually wins over Eun Sae’s heart with his warm and caring personality. His line, “There isn’t a single thing about you that isn’t beautiful,” adds to the romantic tension, while scenes showing their growing closeness raise expectations for their relationship.
However, the mood shifts dramatically near the end of the trailer. Jang Tae Ha’s suspicious remark, “We absolutely cannot get caught,” hints at the secret he is hiding and leaves viewers wondering about the true reason he must keep Go Eun Sae by his side.
Director Kim Jang Han introduced the series, saying, “‘Our Sticky Love’ is a romantic comedy that viewers can comfortably enjoy,” adding, “It captures the relationship between two people who, once connected like taffy, cannot easily separate.”
Meet the Stars: Jung Hae In & Ha Young
Jung Hae In takes on the role of Jang Tae Ha, a man who appears cold on the outside but has an incredibly passionate heart. Once a promising teenage boxing athlete, Tae Ha later became involved with a criminal organization before leaving that life behind to work as a boxing gym coach.
During his final mission to escape the organization, he encounters his first love, Go Eun Sae, who has lost her memory, forcing him to begin a dangerous lie that could cost him everything.
Previously released stills highlight the contrast within his character. One image shows Tae Ha smiling brightly in comfortable clothing at a boxing gym, while another shows him dressed in a black suit with a serious gaze. The contrast between his innocent appearance and intense presence increases curiosity about his hidden past.
Jung Hae In described Tae Ha as “the perfect example of a devoted lover,” explaining, “He is someone who does everything he can to protect the person he loves no matter what situation he faces, while also having an unexpected charm because he can be awkward and clumsy at times.”
He continued, “I tried to naturally express the differences in emotions and attitudes between his various stages of life, from a hungry boxer to an executive within an organization. Especially after meeting Go Eun Sae again, I focused on portraying his struggles and conflicts as he fights to protect her.”
Jung Hae In has earned the title of a “romance expert” through works such as ‘Something in the Rain,’ ‘One Spring Night,’ and ‘Love Next Door,’ while also successfully transforming his image through Netflix’s ‘D.P.’ series. This new project is expected to showcase both his romantic and action-oriented charms through one complex character.
Ha Young plays Go Eun Sae, a prosecutor in the Anti-Corruption Investigation Division at the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office. Known as an exceptionally capable prosecutor who earns the trust of senior colleagues through outstanding results, she is a fearless elite professional who throws herself into her work.
While chasing a criminal organization to seize a major career opportunity, she becomes involved in an unexpected accident and wakes up in an unfamiliar rural hospital surrounded by taffy workshops, having forgotten her name, age, and profession.
Ha Young described Eun Sae, saying, “She is a character who spent her life running toward achieving everything she wanted, but after losing her memory, she separates herself from the circumstances that once surrounded her and returns to her true self.”
She added, “Watching her grow while receiving love from Jang Tae Ha and the people around her felt touching and made me want to support her. Even when she does something frustrating, she is a lovable character who is impossible to dislike.”
Meanwhile, Heo Sung Tae takes on the role of the villain Baek Sang Gil. He plays the boss of the organization Tae Ha once belonged to, a man who completely erased his criminal past through a carefully constructed new identity.
After believing he had eliminated the prosecutor who knew his weakness, Baek Sang Gil learns that the person is still alive and begins searching for him.
Heo Sung Tae explained, “Baek Sang Gil is a character who raises the tension of the story simply through his appearance. I thought carefully about the contrast between how he appears in social relationships and who he truly is. I tried to maintain his relaxed attitude while maximizing his cruel and ruthless nature in a dry yet chilling way.”
Will Netflix’s Latest Romance Series Become Another Global Hit?
Netflix has previously introduced several major Korean romance dramas. One notable example is ‘Can This Love Be Translated?’, released in January, which followed multilingual interpreter Joo Ho Jin (played by Kim Seon Ho) as he became the personal interpreter for global superstar Cha Moo Hee (played by Go Youn Jung), leading to an unpredictable romantic comedy.
The 12-episode series gained attention for its overseas locations across Korea, Japan, Canada, and Italy, appealing to global audiences.
Another example is ‘Boyfriend on Demand,’ released in March. The romantic comedy followed webtoon producer Seo Mi Rae (played by Jisoo), who uses a virtual dating simulation to experience romance after becoming too exhausted by reality to pursue relationships. The drama attracted attention with its unique concept and special appearances from actors including Seo In Guk, Seo Kang Joon, Lee Soo Hyuk, and Kim Sung Cheol.
Following these titles, ‘Our Sticky Love’ is expected to continue Netflix’s lineup of Korean romance series. The chemistry between its two leads is also receiving attention due to their previous success on the platform.
Jung Hae In established a strong presence on Netflix through the ‘D.P.’ series. Season 2, released in July 2023, immediately ranked No. 1 among TV programs in several Asian countries, including Korea, Indonesia, Singapore, and Vietnam, proving the franchise’s global popularity.
Ha Young also gained recognition through Netflix’s ‘The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call’, released in January last year, where she played veteran nurse Chun Jang Mi, a key member supporting the severe trauma team. In June this year, she appeared in ‘Teach You a Lesson’ as teacher Choi Ga Yoon, a central character who contributes to the establishment of the Office for the Protection of Teachers’ Rights.
With Ha Young stepping into her first leading role after appearing in major projects, anticipation is growing for the new side of herself she will reveal.
