Kang Ye Won’s 7 Surgeries Cause Passport Chaos in China

Korean actress Kang Ye Won recently found herself in a uniquely awkward and humorous situation during a business trip to China, a predicament stemming from her multiple plastic surgeries.

On August 20th, a YouTube video titled “The Legend of 200 Billion Won Daily Sales? I Met the No. 1 Chinese Influencer!” was uploaded, capturing the actress’s journey. The video documented Kang Ye Won’s trip to Hangzhou, China, where she was launching her self-created cosmetics brand in the bustling Chinese market.

Despite her excitement, expressing, “I was very excited to set foot on Chinese soil for the first time in 16 years,” she encountered an unexpected hurdle right at immigration. The automatic immigration system, a staple for quick entry, utterly failed to recognize her. The reason? Her old passport photo simply didn’t match her current appearance.

Kang Ye Won recounted the amusing incident, stating, “The passport photo is old, so the automatic system couldn’t recognize me. It’s ridiculous. I think I have to retake my photo and get a new passport.” She candidly added, “They think my old face and current face are different,” then humorously took responsibility, “It’s my fault, so I can’t blame anyone,” a comment that brought laughter to viewers.

To further illustrate the point, she revealed her passport photo to the camera, asking, “Is it very different?” and then admitted, “My eyes look a little different,” comparing it to her present face, which only added to the comedic effect.

This wasn’t an isolated incident for the actress. Kang Ye Won explained, “Last time when I went to Japan, the automatic recognition didn’t work either. But I was really embarrassed that it didn’t work this time in China as well.” Recognizing the recurring issue, she promptly went to the district office to get her passport reissued.

The humor is amplified by her recent frank confession on her YouTube channel about her cosmetic procedures. When asked about eye surgery, she surprisingly revealed, “I had my eyes done several times. I don’t remember exactly, but I think about seven times.” This open admission provides context to her immigration woes, turning an embarrassing moment into a truly viral celebrity story.
