IU Postpones Concerts and Album Due to Health Concerns
The beloved singer and actress IU has announced the postponement of her highly anticipated concerts and upcoming 6th full-length album release, citing health concerns. This news comes as EDAM Entertainment, her agency, released a statement on July 21, confirming adjustments to her schedule.
“We have decided to adjust the schedule for the concerts following the Goyang Stadium performance that had been planned for September, as well as the release schedule for IU’s 6th full-length album,” EDAM Entertainment announced.
Understanding IU’s Condition
The decision was made due to the worsening of IU’s chronic patulous Eustachian tube dysfunction. This condition, which affects the tube connecting the middle ear to the back of the nose, causes it to remain abnormally open, leading to persistent discomfort and various hearing-related symptoms.
While her agency reassured fans that “the artist’s condition is not severe enough to interfere with her daily life,” they emphasized that the postponement was crucial “so she can present her performances in the best possible condition.” EDAM Entertainment further pledged, “We will fully support the artist’s recovery and do our best to ensure IU can return to her fans in good health.”
IU’s Heartfelt Message to UAENA
IU herself reached out to her dedicated fanbase, UAENA, through the fan communication platform Berriz, sharing a heartfelt personal message regarding her situation. She revealed that the Goyang Stadium concert could no longer proceed. “The symptoms of my patulous Eustachian tube dysfunction have been getting worse,” she explained, detailing how “the symptoms continue day and night, and I keep finding it difficult to regain my vocal condition whenever I sing.”
Despite having already completed the recording for her new album, IU clarified that live performance presents a different challenge. “My daily life isn’t greatly affected, but I’ve been told that holding concerts for the time being would be too much,” she admitted, expressing profound regret. “My heart feels heavy, and I’m so sorry that I don’t think I’ll be able to keep my promise of holding concerts with my 8th-generation fan club members during this period.”

The postponements include the Goyang Stadium concert, her broader nationwide tour, and the delay of her 6th full-length album. “I’m more sorry than I can express with just the words ‘I’m sorry’,” she reiterated, offering comfort to UAENA. IU reassured fans, stating, “I’ll do everything I can to make sure the wait isn’t too long and bring my new album and performances to UAENA as quickly as possible.”
