Girls’ Day’s Hyeri, now a successful actress, recently shared candid thoughts about her perception of adulthood, revealing that her current reality doesn’t quite align with the life plans she once imagined. The star confessed she currently doesn’t have any specific life blueprints.
The insightful conversation unfolded in a YouTube video uploaded on August 14th, aptly titled “This isn’t the adult image I had in mind..?”. The video featured Hyeri opening up to her close friend, actress Park Kyung Hye, as they enjoyed a cozy meal of pork ribs and seasoned crab at Hyeri’s home.
Hyeri Reflects on Adulthood and Life Plans
During their heartfelt discussion, Hyeri posed a thought-provoking question, “We think that in our 20s we’re supposed to do certain things, and in our 30s other things, right? Have your older friends gotten married?” Park Kyung Hye responded that most of her older friends had indeed tied the knot, leading Hyeri to reflect, “Right, usually by early 30s…” However, Hyeri then added a personal touch, observing, “But most of my friends haven’t. More haven’t done it than have.” This highlighted a noticeable shift in societal timelines even among her peers.
Breaking Down Traditional Expectations
The candid discussion continued when the producer chimed in, noting that their friends also hadn’t largely settled down. Hyeri insightfully commented, “Nowadays, I think a lot of those expectations have broken down. There used to be plans for life you didn’t even realize you had, but I think a lot of that has fallen apart, and many people live their lives on their own timing.” This observation resonates deeply with modern audiences facing evolving social norms.
A Unique Path: Debuting Early
When asked if she herself had a fixed plan, Hyeri, who debuted at a young age with Girls’ Day, explained her unique journey. “In college, there’s a time to graduate, a time to prepare for employment, and a period to study for certifications, but I didn’t have those, so I couldn’t make a plan.” Her early start in the entertainment industry meant she bypassed many conventional milestones.
Hyeri’s Dream 30s: Inspired by K-Drama Queens
Especially vivid were her expectations for her 30s. Hyeri charmingly confessed, “I thought when I hit my early 30s I’d be like senior actress Chae Jung An in Coffee Prince or senior actress Ryeo Won in My Lovely Sam Soon.” Her vision painted a picture of sophisticated, independent women, a stark contrast perhaps to her current, more fluid reality.
