On July 28, KST, Korean media outlets brought to light that cultural critic Kim Seong Su has officially filed a criminal complaint with the Seoul Yongsan Police Station against the HYBE subsidiary.

Kim Seong Su held a significant press conference in front of the police station on the morning of July 28, where he announced the official complaint against ADOR and several of its employees. The complaint details that ADOR acquired and processed specific information regarding Hanni’s E-6 (entertainment) visa. This included sensitive data such as the visa type, its expiration date, the status of extension application documents, and confirmation of whether she had signed them – all gathered during the management of her activities and residency. Alarming allegations suggest this highly personal and confidential information was subsequently leaked to the media between December 2024 and February 2025.

In support of his complaint, Kim highlighted a particular report from February 2025 that explicitly disclosed the preparation of Hanni’s visa extension documents and her alleged refusal to sign them. He compellingly argued that such granular details would be exceedingly difficult for any external party to obtain without insider involvement. Further bolstering the complaint, a statement released by the parents of NewJeans members on February 12 of last year was attached as evidence. At that time, the parents had vocally expressed serious concerns about the infringement on their personal information and rights, pointing out that approximately 70 speculative articles discussing Hanni’s visa type and expiration date had surfaced over a mere two-day period.
