K-Pop trio VIVIZ might have found a new home! The group is reportedly set to join entertainment agency UNCORE, an agency owned by Joongang Group, which declared bankruptcy back in June.
According to an exclusive report from Mydaily, VIVIZ (Eunha, SinB, Umji) are in the final stages of discussions to signing with UNCORE, currently home to boy group CLOSE YOUR EYES. This news comes after a challenging period for the members. VIVIZ had previously parted ways with Big Planet Made Entertainment in April after issuing the agency a contract termination notice, citing failure to properly pay the members and failure to fulfill their obligations. Adding a hopeful note, Umji recently shared a letter on her social media, hinting that the difficult times VIVIZ has been facing will be ending soon.
However, the situation with UNCORE’s parent company, Joongang Group, presents its own set of concerns. UNCORE is an entertainment agency wholly owned by Joongang Group, which has declared default recently after failing to repay ₩20.6 billion KRW (about $14.8 million USD) in secured loans. The Joongang Group is currently negotiating with their creditors, and the financial distress is already affecting JTBC, with the broadcasting airing re-runs of old shows instead of producing new episodes. Some of the broadcast company’s K-Dramas have even seen production delays due to lack of funding.
