THE BOYZ Members Younghoon & Q Face Asset Freeze Amid Legal Battle
The ongoing legal dispute between K-Pop group THE BOYZ and their former agency, One Hundred Label, has taken a dramatic turn, escalating significantly after the court approved the agency’s request to freeze the assets of members Younghoon and Q. This major development, reported on July 24, saw the Seoul Eastern District Court grant One Hundred Label’s application for a provisional seizure on an apartment owned by Younghoon in Seoul’s Seongdong District. The claim against Younghoon alone is reportedly worth approximately ₩500 million KRW (about $339,000 USD). In a related move, a separate provisional seizure request for property owned by fellow member Q was also approved by the court. One Hundred Label’s legal representative confirmed this decision, emphasizing that this latest ruling marks only the beginning of the agency’s larger lawsuit against the group.
One Hundred Label’s Broader Strategy and Claims
“It is true that Younghoon and Q’s properties have been provisionally seized. This provisional seizure is the starting point of our ₩8.80 billion KRW (about $5.97 million USD) main lawsuit against THE BOYZ members.”
According to the attorney, the agency is currently identifying the locations of other members’ real estate and plans to file additional provisional seizure requests against them in stages. He also stated that the agency intends to actively respond to any objections filed by the members.
“We will actively respond to objections and seek victory in the main lawsuit to normalize the company’s management.”
He further emphasized that the company has no intention of shutting down until it recovers the full amount it claims it is owed. The provisional seizure is explicitly intended to preserve assets while One Hundred Label pursues its financial claims. The agency’s core argument is that the signing bonuses paid to the members were effectively advance payments tied directly to the duration of their exclusive contracts. As such, because the contracts were allegedly not fulfilled through the agreed term, the remaining value should be returned to the agency as unjust enrichment.
Background: The Ongoing Legal Confrontation
On July 13, the legal team representing the nine THE BOYZ members reportedly filed an objection with the court, directly challenging the provisional seizure order. This latest action is part of a series of legal confrontations that began earlier this year. At that time, all members except New filed for an injunction to suspend the validity of their exclusive contracts, alleging that One Hundred Label had failed to fulfill its fundamental obligation to pay settlement earnings. The court ultimately granted the members’ injunction request, a significant temporary victory for THE BOYZ. However, One Hundred Label quickly stated that the injunction ruling was not the final decision and vowed to pursue the matter through the main lawsuit, setting the stage for the current escalation and the asset freeze.
