SISTAR’s Soyou is once again captivating fans with her unfiltered honesty, this time opening up about her deeply personal views on pregnancy and motherhood. In a recent YouTube video titled “From Ex-Boyfriend’s Cheating Stories… (No Idea How Much I’ll Reveal),” uploaded on August 17, Soyou candidly addressed her love life and ultimate aspirations, prompted by the production team’s curiosity.
Soyou, reassuring fans she would share enough to satisfy their curiosity without causing upset, revealed a long-held dream. “Actually, my ultimate goal was to become a mother,” she shared. This desire was so strong that as she approached her thirties, she seriously considered proactive steps. “When I just turned 30, I thought I should really get my body healthy, freeze my eggs, and store them. Because you have to be healthy to have good eggs,” she explained, highlighting her thoughtful approach to future family planning.
However, the path wasn’t as straightforward as she initially hoped. Soyou delved into the practicalities and challenges of egg freezing, explaining, “I heard the eggs can be stored for about three years once frozen. You can extend storage, but the condition isn’t great.” A significant hurdle for her was the daily injections required. “Also, you have to get daily injections in your abdomen with a syringe. (Because of my needle phobia) I gave up,” she confessed, a relatable struggle for many.
Beyond the physical discomfort, the global pandemic brought a profound shift in her perspective. Soyou shared, “Then the pandemic hit, and every time kids had to go outside, it was always mask this and mask that, and I felt so sorry for them.” Witnessing the challenges faced by children during this period led to deep introspection. “I thought that if I had my own baby, I would have so many worries and concerns. I started feeling like I didn’t want to bring a child into this kind of world. That feeling grew stronger,” she admitted, revealing how external circumstances reshaped her once firm resolve towards motherhood. Soyou’s open sharing offers a rare and honest glimpse into the evolving personal journey of a K-Pop idol.
