Idol-turned-actress Son Naeun has captivated fans and netizens alike with a heartfelt revelation about her desire to finally show her true self to the public. Her candid confession, shared in a recent interview, has drawn significant attention and sympathy across online communities.
A Candid YouTube Interview
On July 15th, a video featuring the former Apink member, now a successful actress, was uploaded to YouTube. In the interview, Son Naeun, who currently stars as Jung Sang Ah—an assistant manager at a bank and an agent of the Special Task Force in SBS’s drama Manager Kim—opened up like never before.
MC Ha Ji Young initiated the conversation by remarking, “It must feel different to do an interview like this after a while. You said it’s your first time appearing alone on YouTube sharing your story.”
Son Naeun, known for her initially reserved public persona, nodded in agreement. She explained, “Before, I didn’t have opportunities and wasn’t good with words. I was very cautious about everything I did.”

Embracing Authenticity
She continued to elaborate on her evolving perspective, stating, “But as I got older, my mindset changed. I wanted to show who I really am. Even though I’ve been active for a long time, many people only see the stereotypical image of me.”
Born in 1994, Son Naeun debuted in 2011 as a beloved member of the K-Pop girl group Apink. After a remarkable career with the group, she officially left in 2022 to fully focus on her acting endeavors. Since then, she has gracefully transitioned, making a name for herself by appearing in various dramas and solidifying her presence in the acting world, a journey that now includes a powerful new chapter of self-expression.
