K-pop powerhouse SF9 is not just celebrating a decade in the industry; they’re setting their sights on a monumental 60 more years! This ambitious declaration comes as the eight-member group marks its 10th anniversary, returning to the scene with their second full-length album, “TENACITY,” led by the captivating single “Without Wings.”

The FNC Entertainment act held a media showcase in Seoul, expressing their unwavering resolve. “We plan to keep this going for another 60 years or so, and we’re a group with the will and the nerve to do it,” shared Inseong, highlighting their commitment. “As long as we stay healthy, it’s possible.” SF9 made their debut in October 2016 with the single album “Feeling Sensation,” and officially kicked off their 10th year in March with the special album “About Love.” “TENACITY” culminates this celebratory period with 10 diverse tracks. Members Youngbin, Inseong, Jaeyoon, Dawon, Zuho, Yoo Tae-yang, Hwiyoung, and Chani gathered at the Cube Convention Center for the event, performing their new song and reflecting on their journey.
A Decade of Dedication: “TENACITY” and FANTASY’s Support
Leader Youngbin expressed heartfelt gratitude to their dedicated fanbase, FANTASY. “I’m grateful to FANTASY (the group’s official fandom) for being the support that let us keep going for 10 years,” he said, visibly moved. “It hadn’t really sunk in that we’d hit 10 years, but standing here onstage, it’s starting to.”

Even with members Yoo Tae-yang and Zuho currently fulfilling their military service, their presence was felt. “The members doing their service sent us text messages saying they’d be watching closely,” Youngbin revealed. “It’s hard to reach them given the circumstances, so even one text meant a lot. Each of us will get through it from where we are.”
The album title “TENACITY” itself is a profound reflection of their journey, carrying a double meaning: signifying both their enduring persistence and their “TEN” years in the spotlight. It’s an album that perfectly encapsulates looking back on a transformative decade while eagerly stepping forward.
“Without Wings”: A Song of Hope and Lived Experience
The lead track, “Without Wings,” showcases SF9’s powerful, full-throated vocals expertly blended with a trendy, laid-back Afrobeats production. Member Hwiyoung, who holds a writing credit on the track, shared the personal inspiration behind the lyrics. “I drew on things I’ve been through,” he explained. “I tried to write a message of hope that fit the title and the concept the members felt suited the song.” This personal touch adds another layer of depth and sincerity for FANTASY to connect with.

Milestones and Evolving Teamwork
When asked about the most memorable moment of their career, Dawon fondly recalled SF9’s first music show trophy for “Good Guy” on Mnet’s “M Countdown” in 2020. “So much has happened, but if I had to pick one, that’s it,” he reminisced. “Everyone who debuts wants it, and that dream took up a big part of us. My heart still races when I think about it.”
Youngbin also reflected on the significant evolution of the group’s dynamics. “Everyone came in with music they wanted to make. Over time we learned to hold our ground more loosely and move in the direction the team needs,” he noted. “We fought a lot when we debuted. What stands out now is how flexible the teamwork has become.” This growth in synergy is a testament to their strong bond and collective ambition.
Celebrating a Decade: Anniversary Concerts
To further commemorate their 10th anniversary, SF9 is gearing up for two special concerts on October 10 and 11 at KBS Arena in Seoul. Fans can anticipate a setlist that spans their entire decade-long career, featuring special performances that showcase their incredible journey.
“We’re planning to put everything from 10 years into it,” Chani promised, building anticipation. “You’ll see the passion of a more mature version of us.” Jaeyoon added, “It’s a 10th anniversary concert, so we’re trying to fit in all 10 years. I hope a lot of people come and share the memories with us.” It’s set to be an unforgettable celebration for SF9 and FANTASY alike.
