The K-Pop world is abuzz with bittersweet news as Pledis Entertainment announced that three beloved members of global sensation Seventeen – Seungkwan, Dino, and Mingyu – will soon begin their mandatory military service. The agency shared the important updates on the K-Pop fan community platform Weverse, providing Carats with details about their upcoming enlistments.
Seungkwan and Dino’s Joint Enlistment
According to the official notice, Seungkwan and Dino are slated to enlist together on October 26. The duo will be joining the South Korean Army’s military brass band, a role that will undoubtedly benefit from their musical talents and stage presence. Pledis Entertainment respectfully requested that fans refrain from visiting the boot camp on the day of their enlistment. The agency highlighted that the venue will understandably be crowded with other recruits and their families, and urged Carats to show their support from afar to ensure a smooth process for everyone involved.

Mingyu to Begin Alternative Service
Adding to the news, Mingyu will commence his alternative military service next month, starting on September 10. Pledis Entertainment clarified that, similar to Seungkwan and Dino’s send-off, there will be no official event marking the start of Mingyu’s service or when he later enters the military training center. The agency also extended its plea to fans not to visit Mingyu’s designated workplace during his alternative service period, emphasizing the importance of privacy and respect for the process.
Pre-Service Activities and Member Status
Before embarking on their respective duties, all three members – Seungkwan, Dino, and Mingyu – are committed to participating in their previously scheduled activities as planned. This ensures fans will have opportunities to see them before their temporary hiatus.
With these enlistments, the majority of Seventeen’s Korean members will have either completed or be in the process of fulfilling their mandatory military duties. Notable exceptions include leader S.Coups, who was exempted from military service, along with the group’s Chinese members The8 and Jun, and U.S. national Joshua, who are not subject to South Korean military laws.
