SEVENTEEN’s Jeonghan Reveals ‘Living Hell’ Trainee Days

Recently, video clips of SEVENTEEN’s beloved member Jeonghan appearing on a Japanese show have taken the K-Pop world by storm, garnering much attention across fan communities. In particular, CARATs were in absolute shock and heartbreak after hearing his candid stories about his challenging trainee days.

During the show, Jeonghan openly shared the immense struggles and restrictive conditions he and his fellow trainees faced.

I even went through a training exercise to practice my breathing by holding my breath as much as I could while lying down, and my vocal coach would stand on top of my stomach so my breath wouldn’t give out.

He also confessed he would take the longer route on purpose, a subtle act of rebellion to gain a few extra minutes of freedom or perhaps burn a few more calories in an environment known for strict weight management.

I didn’t want to go to the practice room quickly, so after my vocal lesson, instead of taking the subway, which normally took an hour, I would take the bus and go the long way around, which would take two hours.

These revelations painted a vivid picture of the rigorous demands placed upon idols-in-training. 스크린샷 2026-08-03 오후 3.12.51 The hardships didn’t stop there.
He would even make up a lie to eat outside, desperate for a taste of normalcy and a break from the harsh dietary regimes often imposed by agencies.

I also remember wanting to go out to eat, so I would say I was going to the restroom, then run off to buy a hamburger or something else to eat before coming back inside.

His heartfelt recount resonated deeply with fans, highlighting the sacrifices made on the path to stardom. However, fans were furious with the company for making the members go through what Jeonghan described as a “living hell” as trainees.

The overwhelming sentiment online was one of anger towards the agency, demanding better treatment for current and future idols.

Many expressed admiration for Jeonghan’s resilience and determination, while simultaneously condemning the outdated and often cruel practices of the industry.

This incident has reignited the ongoing debate about the mental and physical well-being of K-Pop trainees.

CARATs are now rallying, hoping for greater transparency and reform within the system.

Jeonghan’s brave sharing has truly opened a new chapter in understanding the sacrifices behind the glitz and glamour of K-Pop.
