DK & Vernon: Seventeen’s Next Members to Enlist
Pledis Entertainment has delivered an important update that will see two beloved members of K-pop powerhouse Seventeen begin their mandatory military service. Carats, get ready to send your heartfelt goodbyes, as DK and Vernon are set to enlist in the coming months.
According to a notice posted on Weverse, DK will embark on his active-duty service in the Army on September 8th. Meanwhile, Vernon is scheduled to begin his alternative service as a social service agent on August 20th. Both members will continue their scheduled official activities leading up to their respective enlistment dates, ensuring fans have time to cherish their presence before their temporary hiatus.
A Message to CARATs: Supporting DK & Vernon’s Service
Pledis Entertainment also issued important guidelines for fans regarding the enlistment ceremonies. The agency respectfully requested that Carats do not visit DK’s enlistment ceremony, emphasizing the presence of numerous other recruits and their families who will be attending the event. Similarly, fans are asked to refrain from visiting Vernon’s training center or workplace during his service period. The agency’s priority is the privacy and safety of all involved.
While DK and Vernon will be temporarily unable to participate in Seventeen’s group activities during their service, Pledis has offered a comforting note for fans, assuring them that pre-recorded content featuring the two members will be released. This thoughtful arrangement aims to bridge the gap and keep their connection with Carats strong.
“We ask for your continued love and support so that DK and Vernon can faithfully fulfill their military duties and return in good health,” Pledis shared, expressing the agency’s hopes for the members’ safe return.
Seventeen’s Staggered Enlistment Journey
The announcement comes as Seventeen officially enters a period of staggered military enlistments. Jeonghan recently concluded his alternative service, having been discharged on June 25th after enlisting in September 2024, while Wonwoo is currently fulfilling his duties as a social service agent. Looking ahead, Woozi and Hoshi are slated to enlist as active-duty soldiers in September 2025. In good news for S.Coups, the group’s leader is exempt from military service due to a knee injury. Furthermore, international members Joshua, Jun, and The8 are not subject to South Korea’s mandatory military service, providing stability to the group’s activities during this period.
United for the Future: Contract Renewals
Amidst these enlistment updates, Pledis Entertainment recently shared reassuring news about Seventeen’s future. On July 13th, the agency proudly announced that all 13 members of Seventeen renewed their contracts for a second time. This powerful display of unity and commitment solidifies the group’s long-term trajectory, ensuring Seventeen will continue to shine brightly for many years to come, even as members fulfill their national duties.
