Red Velvet recently made their long-awaited comeback with Velvet Summer, marking the group’s first release in two years.
Along with the new mini album, the members reunited with fans through a three-night fan concert packed with both classic hits and new performances celebrating the group’s 12th anniversary.
While the concerts were filled with memorable moments, Seulgi in particular left fans emotional.
During a performance of the emotional track “Candy,” Seulgi suddenly broke down in tears while singing. Unable to hold back her emotions, she was comforted by fellow member Yeri, who wrapped her in a tight hug as the performance continued. Videos of the moment quickly spread online, with many fans saying it broke their hearts.

During the members’ closing speeches, Seulgi became emotional again. She struggled to continue speaking, pausing to wipe away her tears before finishing what she wanted to say to fans.

Many fans connected the emotional moments to the difficult year Seulgi has had.

Earlier this June, Seulgi’s cousin Sujin, whom she was known to be very close to, passed away unexpectedly. Despite the heartbreaking loss, Seulgi continued preparing for Red Velvet’s Velvet Summer comeback instead of stepping away from activities.
Following the concert, many fans shared messages of support on X, saying they wished Seulgi had been given more time to grieve before returning to work. Others hoped that performing alongside her members and seeing fans again could bring her some comfort during such a difficult time.
