For most male Korean K-Pop idols, enlistment is mandatory, barring some extreme circumstances. This rite of passage is a significant, often emotional, period for both idols and their devoted fans. However, sometimes these circumstances are manipulated to avoid specific services, a sensitive issue recently highlighted by the surge of Taiwanese celebrities found out for their mandatory services.
While less frequently discovered in K-Pop, there have been cases of idols being found to have altered records in order to change service. The K-Pop industry and its fans take such matters with extreme seriousness, emphasizing accountability and integrity.
Ravi’s Military Evasion Case and Departure from VIXX
In January 2023, then VIXX member Ravi was considered to be the idol rapper involved in a military draft evasion case, based on alleged communication between him and a broker. This news sent shockwaves through the global K-Pop community, prompting widespread discussion and concern.
Ravi was subsequently found guilty and sentenced to a suspended sentence. In a display of responsibility, he voluntarily offered to enlist twice, completing his service in December 2025. The idol left VIXX in April 2023 as a direct result of the investigation, marking a poignant moment for both the artist and his long-time group.
Since his service ended, Ravi has made one public appearance, but there have been no official updates on his activities, leaving fans in a state of hopeful anticipation.

However, on July 7, a fan shared a truly heartwarming update: Ravi joined a private fan group chat and sent a long, personal message, along with compelling proof images of himself. This direct outreach was a significant moment for his dedicated supporters.
The messages from Ravi were heartfelt; he checked in on fans, expressed his gratitude, and most importantly, promised to do his best to meet fans again, signaling a potential future return to public life.

This unexpected interaction sparked an immediate and emotional outpouring from his fanbase, GRVs.
Hello, it’s Ravi. Have you all been doing well and staying healthy?
I feel a little hesitant reaching out like this out of the blue. I hope you’ve been doing well, and I worry that my message might stir up discomfort that you’ve managed to put aside.
I can’t begin to imagine or fully understand the many emotions you’ve all carried and that have become tangled together over such a long period of time. Because of that, I’ve found it difficult to know what I should say or how I should begin this letter.
But I felt that if I let more time pass simply because it was difficult, I would regret it, so I decided to write to you like this. I did send my greetings through Nyeok before, but I felt that writing directly to you like this is different.
It feels heavy to say this, but what I really wanted to tell you is that I miss you all very much, and I’ve been thinking of you.
More than anything, I hope you’re all staying healthy and taking good care of yourselves.
I’ll continue working hard and doing everything I can so that the day comes when I can meet you all again.
