Love After Divorce 5 Star Park Hye Kyung Reveals Ex-Husband’s Shocking Deception
A Korean reality dating show star recently unveiled the deeply personal and shocking reason behind her divorce from her ex-husband, shedding light on a hidden truth that viewers found hard to believe.
The revelations came to light in a recent YouTube video titled “The creepy secret my ex-husband hid.” In this candid discussion, Park Hye Kyung, known for her appearance on MBN‘s popular show, Love After Divorce 5, featured as a guest, bravely sharing her concerns and the painful details of her past marriage.
The Unveiling of a Deeply Held Secret
When asked directly about her ex-husband and their time together, Park Hye Kyung recounted, “We lived together for five months before the wedding in our first home and for three months after the wedding.” The initial reason she cited for her decision to divorce was simple yet profound: “He broke my trust. He hid his illness.”
She initially believed the illness was a kidney transplant, explaining, “He was a kidney transplant patient. I heard it was because he took herbal medicine that strained his kidneys, leading to the transplant. His family initially opposed us, but my parents really liked him, and I was very happy. I thought that if the kidney damage was due to herbal medicine, it might get better with proper care.” This initial understanding, however, was far from the full, horrifying truth.
Park Hye Kyung went on to reveal the devastating deception: “We got married overcoming parents’ objections, but it turned out he had diabetes since he was young. He hid the fact that he had diabetes from when we started dating until three months after marriage. Because of diabetes, he had the kidney transplant. Even after the transplant, he was injecting insulin four times a day—once after breakfast, lunch, and dinner and once every 24 hours. But I didn’t know about it even while living together,” a confession that left viewers stunned.
Jung Ho Geun, one of the hosts, inquired, “Isn’t insulin administered by injection?” Park confirmed, “He used a pen-type injector, and he did it in the bathroom. Since I didn’t know he had diabetes, I never thought about him injecting insulin.” The revelation highlighted the extreme lengths her ex-husband went to conceal his condition.
Beyond Betrayal: The True Cost of Deception and Power Dynamics
Jung Ho Geun then probed further, asking, “Still, some might ask, ‘If their love is strong, would that really be a problem?’” Park Hye Kyung admitted to wrestling with these thoughts herself. “I did think about that. At first, I was shocked, confused, and a little angry, but as time went by and I calmed down, I cried. I thought if the reason he didn’t tell me was because he feared we’d break up, how anxious he must have been, how nervous about being found out, injecting himself alone. When someone you love does that, it hurts and breaks your heart,” she shared, displaying a profound sense of empathy despite her pain.
However, the ultimate reason for her divorce extended beyond the initial shock and betrayal. Park Hye Kyung elaborated, “I believe a couple should be equals, but I couldn’t tolerate that he always had to be on top. Like a seesaw that isn’t balanced, if it tilted a little towards me, he couldn’t stand it.“ This statement revealed a deeper issue of power imbalance and control that ultimately led to the dissolution of their marriage, compounding the betrayal of trust.
