MC Mong Cleared of Charges, Resumes Concerts After 4 Years

**MC Mong Cleared of Allegations, Makes Triumphant Return to Stage After Six-Month Investigation**

MC Mong, the popular artist also known as Shin Dong Hyun, has been officially cleared of allegations that he illegally obtained sleep medication. This crucial decision by the police not to forward the case to prosecutors, citing insufficient evidence, has paved the way for his highly anticipated return to the K-Pop stage, much to the delight of his dedicated fanbase.

**Investigation Concludes with No Evidence of Wrongdoing**

The Seoul Gangnam Police Station recently announced its decision on August 18 not to refer MC Mong’s case, which involved alleged violations of the Narcotics Control Act, to prosecutors. After a thorough six-month investigation, police concluded that there was not enough evidence to establish that MC Mong had obtained zolpidem, a regulated psychotropic sleep medication, through a proxy prescription. The investigation involved detailed statements from MC Mong and his former manager, alongside comprehensive testing conducted by the National Forensic Service. A decision not to forward a case signifies that criminal charges cannot be substantiated, allowing the artist to move forward.

**Initial Complaint Sparked Extensive Probe**

The extensive police investigation began in January following a complaint filed by former Korean Medical Association President Lim Hyun Taek. Lim alleged that MC Mong had obtained zolpidem using his former manager’s name. Zolpidem, commonly used to treat insomnia, is classified as a psychotropic drug, meaning its distribution and use are under strict regulatory control. The initial complaint was received by the Daejeon Seobu Police Station before being transferred to the Seoul Gangnam Police Station, which has jurisdiction over MC Mong’s residence, for further detailed inquiry.

**MC Mong Reunites with Fans in First Solo Concert in Four Years**

With the legal issues resolved, MC Mong has wasted no time in fulfilling his passion for music and reconnecting with his fans. He recently held his first solo concert in approximately four years, titled ‘Midsummer Night’s Ice=Kkaekki’, from August 14 to 16 at the YES24 Live Hall in Gwangjin District, Seoul. This marked a significant moment for both the artist and his supporters. Following the successful Seoul performances, MC Mong took to social media on August 17 to share photos and express his gratitude, simply writing, “August was beautiful. Thank you.”

Ahead of his return to the stage, MC Mong had shared his powerful determination, stating, “Rather than hiding amid speculation and misunderstandings, a singer can prove themselves on stage.” This resolute spirit clearly shone through his performances. Fans eagerly anticipating more can look forward to his upcoming concert in Busan, scheduled for August 29, as MC Mong continues his triumphant return to the vibrant K-pop scene.
