Kep1er’s talented member Xiaoting is set to make her highly anticipated solo debut with the digital single “LEGEND,” officially announced on July 17th. Fans were sent into a frenzy by a cryptic Instagram post from Xiaoting, sparking excitement across the K-pop community.
Xiaoting Teases “LEGEND” Solo Debut
The intriguing post, simply captioned “7·30·0·0,” featured a striking gray image reminiscent of film static. Overlayed on this mysterious backdrop were essential details: Xiaoting’s name, the thrilling news of her “1ST DIGITAL SINGLE,” and its release date and time – “2026.07.30 00:00 AM.” The title of the single, “LEGEND,” was subtly spelled out in individually spaced letters across the top of the image.

A New Chapter Beyond Kep1er
This marks Xiaoting’s very first solo venture, a significant milestone following her successful group activities with Kep1er. Kep1er, formed through Mnet’s intense survival show Girls Planet 999, burst onto the scene with their debut album *First Impact* in 2022. Since then, the powerhouse group has released eight Korean mini albums, including their latest, *CRACK CODE*, which dropped on March 31, 2026. Their impressive discography has collectively amassed over two million in physical sales across their Korean and Japanese projects.
Stepping into C-Pop with “LEGEND”?
While not explicitly confirmed, “LEGEND” is widely speculated to be Xiaoting’s first Chinese-language release. All text within the teaser image was presented in both Chinese and English, with a notable absence of Korean. This strongly suggests that Xiaoting is embracing this solo opportunity to venture beyond traditional K-pop promotions, potentially making a significant stride into her native C-pop market. Xiaoting’s presence as Kep1er’s sole Chinese member has garnered the group a dedicated and influential Chinese fanbase, who consistently contribute to their impressive physical album sales. Despite this, Kep1er primarily focuses its promotions in Korea and Japan, a common strategy for K-pop artists, which means their popularity in China, while present, isn’t as widespread. A solo Chinese release like “LEGEND,” even with Xiaoting’s established fanbase, represents a bold new direction that could not only elevate her individual career but also indirectly boost Kep1er’s global recognition.
Fans can eagerly anticipate more teasers in the coming weeks, which are expected to reveal more about the tone and sub-genre of “LEGEND” before its official digital unveiling later this month.
