Jay Chou’s Agency Issues Forceful Denial Amid Illegitimate Child Rumors
Taiwanese superstar Jay Chou, a name synonymous with Asian music royalty, has recently been embroiled in a swirl of unsettling rumors. The prolific artist found himself at the center of online speculation regarding an alleged child born out of wedlock, prompting his agency to issue a swift and forceful denial.
The Origin of Baseless Claims
The controversy reportedly ignited after Chinese media outlet ET Today picked up on claims circulating online in China. Veteran Chinese paparazzo Zhuo Wei was cited for igniting the firestorm, reportedly stating, “A Chinese-language music industry king with a three-character name jointly owned a food and beverage and entertainment company with a woman surnamed Liu in Xi’an, China. Their relationship developed romantically, and the woman gave birth to a child.” While Zhuo Wei cleverly avoided directly naming the individual, the carefully placed clues – “establishing a company in Xi’an” and “withdrawing shares on the same year, month, and day” – quickly led Chinese netizens to speculate that the target of the rumors was none other than Jay Chou and his former business partner, Liu Ru Xue.
Jay Chou’s Subtle Initial Response
As the online chatter escalated and the baseless claims gained traction, Jay Chou himself took to social media. In a subtle yet pointed response, he shared a photograph of himself playing tennis, accompanied by the brief, seemingly unbothered caption, “Keep playing as is.” This indirect message appeared to be an expression of his frustration and a dismissal of the intensifying, unfounded allegations.
Agency Delivers Stern Denial & Legal Warning
However, the situation demanded a more direct and official response. Jay Chou’s agency, JVR Music, wasted no time in releasing a comprehensive statement on the 6th, adamantly refuting the claims. The agency’s message was unequivocal: “The online rumors are purely malicious fabrications and clear falsehoods. We strongly condemn acts that incite the public and seek traffic.”
JVR Music emphasized the serious nature of the fabrications, adding a stern warning to those spreading misinformation. “The internet is not a legal blind spot. Anyone who fabricates and spreads false information must bear the corresponding legal responsibility. We have already hired lawyers and completed evidence preservation procedures against those who created and disseminated illegal posts, and we will pursue legal accountability to the fullest extent.” This strong stance underscores the agency’s commitment to protecting Jay Chou’s reputation and cracking down on the spread of harmful online falsehoods.
