IU’s Social Media Background Music Sparks Fan Debate

K-Pop icon IU, known for her captivating vocals and acting prowess, recently found herself at the center of a social media discussion. Earlier on August 6th, the beloved soloist and actress shared several recent photos on her social media account with the caption “Living earnestly.” What truly sparked public attention, however, was the background music for the post: a song by Jang Ki Ha, her ex-boyfriend.

Given that Jang Ki Ha is currently in a public relationship with Yoon Ga Yi, IU’s choice quickly led to various interpretations circulating online. Some argued it was a decision that showed a lack of consideration for Jang Ki Ha’s current partner, igniting heated debates among fans and netizens alike.

Unpacking The Deletion Rumors: What Really Happened?

The discourse intensified when, on August 7th, multiple media outlets reported that IU had subsequently deleted the song by her ex-boyfriend Jang Ki Ha as background music from her social media account. Speculation immediately arose that IU had made this change out of consideration for Jang Ki Ha’s current girlfriend.

However, as many keen-eyed fans and reliable sources have confirmed, this information is simply not true. As of the time of this article’s publish, IU’s social media still prominently features Ki Ha & The Faces’ song “Living the Carefree Life” as its background music, disproving the earlier claims.

The Real Story Behind The Backlash

Unfortunately, due to these false reports, IU unexpectedly suffered significant backlash. Some netizens, acting on the misinformation that she had deleted the background music, proceeded to leave malicious comments on her posts, adding to the unwarranted controversy.

While interpretations around IU’s background music choice may certainly vary, the widespread false reports that she deleted the music when she clearly did not caused misinformation to spread as fact, leading to this entirely unexpected and unnecessary controversy for the star.

Adding to the context, IU had just announced her breakup with actor Lee Jong Suk in July. About a month later, she resumed her social media activities, sharing 46 recent photos, only to become embroiled in this new controversy over her background music setting.
