Girls’ Generation-HRS Officially Debuts!
Girls’ Generation members Hyoyeon, Yuri, and Sooyoung are officially debuting as the group’s newest unit, Girls’ Generation-HRS. On August 22 KST, SM Entertainment announced that Girls’ Generation-HRS will release their first digital single ‘Skibidi’ on August 31 at 6 PM KST through various music streaming platforms.
Dive Into Their Sound: ‘Skibidi’ and ‘Lowkey In Love’
The single will feature two tracks: title track “Skibidi” and B-side “Lowkey In Love.”
“Skibidi” begins with a house-driven sound before transitioning into hip-hop. Arabian-inspired string samples add an exotic touch, while the lyrics deliver the confident message of “creating a new path of our own.”
“Lowkey In Love,” meanwhile, is a retro-inspired dance-pop track featuring bright brass sounds, rhythmic grooves, and a catchy melody. The song highlights the playful and positive energy of Hyoyeon, Yuri, and Sooyoung.
From YouTube Fun to Official Unit: The Journey of Girls’ Generation-HRS
Before the official release, Girls’ Generation-HRS will give fans their first look at both songs at the ‘2026 CassCool Festival’, held at Seoul Land in Gwacheon, Gyeonggi Province, on August 22.
The unit originated from the “Fake Kim Hyoyeon” content series on Hyoyeon’s personal YouTube channel “Hyo’s Level Up”. The project gained attention as Hyoyeon, Yuri, and Sooyoung humorously competed over positions such as main vocalist and center.
What began as a YouTube content project has now evolved into an official Girls’ Generation unit with its own music and performances.
A New Chemistry Unveiled
With ‘Skibidi’, Hyoyeon, Yuri, and Sooyoung are set to showcase a new chemistry and musical identity as Girls’ Generation-HRS.
