CORTIS Dorm Intrusion: Two Arrested for Trespassing
Two Chinese nationals have been arrested after allegedly breaking into K-Pop group CORTIS’s dormitory, reigniting serious concerns about the safety and privacy of idols. The Yongsan Police Station in Seoul announced on July 24 that it is investigating the two women on charges of trespassing. They are accused of unlawfully entering CORTIS’s residence in Seoul’s Yongsan District around 2 AM on July 23.
Police reports indicate officers were dispatched after the group’s manager discovered packages left outside the dormitory had been opened and the front door was found ajar. The two women were apprehended at the scene. During questioning, the suspects told police they had purchased the dormitory’s address through social media channels. However, they denied opening any packages or actually entering the dorm itself. Police are continuing their investigation into the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
Escalating Stalking: Not CORTIS’s First Encounter
This alarming event is far from an isolated incident for CORTIS, who have repeatedly been targeted by invasive behaviors. Just last month, agency BigHit Music issued a stern statement revealing a series of disturbing incidents during the group’s schedules in Paris, France. These included individuals illegally attaching a small GPS tracking device to a vehicle carrying CORTIS members, a blatant invasion of privacy. Furthermore, other alleged sasaengs hired local vehicles and drivers to relentlessly follow the group’s movements, even during private and undisclosed schedules, demonstrating an obsessive level of intrusion.
BigHit Music also highlighted that some individuals, who had already been barred from attending official fan events due to prior etiquette violations, continued to engage in inappropriate and intrusive conduct. These individuals were reportedly found waiting inside the hotel where the members were staying. Even during flights, they allegedly moved from their assigned seats in different sections to sit disturbingly close to the members’ seats, forcing agency intervention and warnings.
BigHit Music Vows Strong Legal Action
In light of these escalating incidents, BigHit Music announced its firm commitment to taking strong legal action against fans engaging in stalking and other invasive behaviors targeting CORTIS. This includes, but is not limited to, the alleged attaching of GPS tracking devices to the members’ vehicles. The agency’s resolve underscores the growing need to protect K-Pop artists from privacy violations and ensures that such actions will face severe consequences.
