BTS’s RM and J-Hope are facing a fresh wave of criticism amid their ongoing Chris Brown controversy after their latest appearance.
On August 20, J-Hope shared a new video on TikTok with RM, where both idols were seen dancing to Justin Bieber aboard a boat in Toronto. The stars looked lighthearted and carefree in the clip ahead of BTS’s upcoming WORLD TOUR ‘ARIRANG’ shows in the city this weekend.
@iamurhope Toronto, we’re here!!😵💫🇨🇦
But for many fans, the timing has landed badly. RM and J-Hope have been facing intense backlash after attending Chris Brown’s concert in Canada earlier this month, where they also posed for a photo with the controversial singer. In 2009, Brown pleaded guilty to felony assault against his then-girlfriend, Rihanna.
The pair’s TikTok has now only intensified the criticism, with many slamming the BTS members for carrying on as normal rather than addressing the backlash.
they look pathetic ignoring all the deserved criticism they’re getting from their own fans pic.twitter.com/3maPwlKVCN

J-Hope was previously criticized for his “empty words” earlier this week, while RM was met with anger after sharing a fan’s “I love RM” concert sign.

With no official statement on the controversy from BTS or BIG HIT MUSIC, the fallout continues to grow. Yesterday, well-known advocacy group The Pixel Project confirmed it had suspended RM from its honor roll of male role models working to stop violence against women.
