Santiago Cheers: BTS Concerts at Estadio Nacional Get Final Approval!
Good news for ARMYs in Chile! BTS’s highly anticipated concerts at Santiago’s Estadio Nacional have officially received approval after concert promoter DG Medios successfully revised its production plans. The initial green light was held back due to concerns over potential damage to the venue’s pristine playing field, but a solution has been found, much to the relief of fans.
Solving the Stadium Safety Challenge
Chile’s Ministry of Sports confirmed on Tuesday that the National Sports Institute has given its blessing to the updated proposal from DG Medios. This revised plan incorporates crucial technical modifications specifically designed to safeguard the stadium’s vital sports infrastructure. As a result, authorities have now concluded that the concerts can proceed as scheduled on October 14, 16, and 17.
The key to this breakthrough lies in the innovative new plans. The ministry detailed that the revised strategy significantly reduces the impact on the pitch by preventing heavy machinery from traversing the grass during the setup of the impressive 360-degree stage. Instead, cranes will now operate from the athletics track, and a state-of-the-art protective covering, complete with advanced ventilation technology, will be installed to ensure the grass remains healthy and breathable throughout the entire production period. Furthermore, this meticulous proposal was backed by a comprehensive engineering study, which is expected to drastically shorten the field’s recovery time compared to the original setup.
ARMY’s Impact and Promoter’s Commitment
This approval marks a significant reversal of an earlier decision by the National Sports Institute, which had initially declined to authorize the use of Estadio Nacional. That initial denial sparked a massive wave of concern and strong backlash from BTS fans, collectively known as ARMY, who organized passionate demonstrations urging authorities to reconsider their stance. Their dedication clearly played a part in highlighting the importance of these concerts.
In an official statement, DG Medios expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Sports, the National Sports Institute, and Estadio Nacional officials for their collaborative effort in finding a viable solution. The promoter reaffirmed its commitment: “We remain committed to delivering a first-class experience for BTS and their fans while producing the shows responsibly and complying with all technical requirements established by the authorities to protect Estadio Nacional’s infrastructure.”
“Arirang” Tour Continues: A Historic Return to Chile
These much-anticipated Chile concerts are a key part of BTS’s current “Arirang” world tour, which kicked off in April following the release of their fifth LP of the same name on March 21. For Chilean ARMYs, these performances will be especially momentous as they mark BTS’s first return to the country since their “Wings” tour in March 2017. Notably, BTS will make history as the first Korean act to stage a standalone concert at Estadio Nacional, further solidifying their global impact. The Latin American leg of the “Arirang” tour is set to begin in October after the group concludes its North American dates, with additional stops planned for Bogota, Lima, Buenos Aires, and Sao Paulo.
