BAE173’s Unfolding Drama: Disbandment Rumors Meet Concert Announcements
The K-Pop world is no stranger to unexpected twists, but the recent situation surrounding boy group BAE173 has fans reeling in a mix of confusion and hope.
What appeared to be the end for the beloved group has taken a bizarre turn, leaving many questioning the future.
BAE173 was formed and managed by PocketDol Studio. The group debuted on November 19, 2020, with their first mini-album, Intersection: Spark, and has since released five more mini-albums, building a dedicated fanbase with their energetic performances and catchy tracks.
Mass Departures Spark Disbandment Fears
On July 14, a bombshell announcement rocked the K-Pop community: five members would be leaving PocketDol Studio, leaving just one still there. This news immediately sparked widespread speculation about the group’s disbandment, a common outcome when a significant number of members depart their managing agency.
It was not made clear if the group was disbanding; however, with Hangyul’s departure from PocketDol, it was assumed that he had left the group. Member Yoojun seemingly stated in his letter to fans that he would be pursuing a “different path,” implying he would retire from idol life.

Just when fans were beginning to mourn what seemed like the inevitable end, a startling announcement came on July 15: BAE173 would be holding concerts in Japan this September.
The notice announced that the “BAE173 Fan-Con In Japan” would take place in Osaka and Tokyo on September 5 and 12, respectively. This unexpected development threw fans into a frenzy, trying to reconcile the news of multiple members leaving with a new concert schedule.

Ticket sales are set to begin on July 15, local time, and include various perks that can be purchased for interactions with the group’s members, further deepening the mystery. The inclusion of “group’s members” suggests more than just one, or even two, members might be involved, directly contradicting previous reports.
Fan Confusion Reigns Supreme
Many fans have expressed confusion about the announcement, questioning whether the group is disbanded or whether the event will not take place at all. The situation remains incredibly murky, leaving fans to wonder if this is a last hurrah, a partial regrouping, or a complete miscommunication.
Only time will tell what the future truly holds for BAE173 and their dedicated fans, who are now more eager than ever for clarity.
