Cha Eunwoo Baptized While Serving in the Military
Actor and ASTRO member Cha Eunwoo received Catholic baptism during his military service, according to News1 on July 1. The baptism took place last month during a ceremony held on base as part of religious activities; Cha Eunwoo is currently serving as a corporal in the army band.
First Formal Declaration of Faith
Cha Eunwoo had not previously disclosed any official religious affiliation. The baptism marks his first step as a formal Catholic while fulfilling his military duties.
Recent Tax Investigation and Payment
Earlier this year, Cha Eunwoo was involved in a tax-related controversy. In January he faced allegations of large-scale tax evasion tied to income distribution through a one-person agency established by his mother. The National Tax Service deemed the company a shell without actual services and launched an investigation, ultimately notifying him of a substantial income tax surcharge.
Cha Eunwoo completed payment of the additional income tax of about ₩13.0 billion KRW (approximately $8.40 million USD) in April, concluding the tax process.
Military Status
Since resolving the tax issue, Cha Eunwoo has remained focused on his military responsibilities. Military authorities responded to complaints about his assignments by confirming that the duties were proper. He enlisted as an active-duty soldier in July last year and is scheduled to be discharged in January 2027.
